I love the freedom that art offers to play, experiment and
evolve into expressions of who I am and how I perceive the world.
My art is very much a survival tactic for living in a world that
often seems pretty much hell bent on denying its own humanity.
Bev is a mixed-media artist based in Aotearoa New Zealand. She likes to incorporate
contrasting techniques, textures and strong colours in her artwork. Bev enjoys
using photography, screen-printing, acrylic and oil painting, collage and a range of recycled
and unusual materials in her art.
Bev's art is coloured by her experiences as a fourth generation Chinese New
Zealander, her background in psychology and statistics, and her work as a social
issues and policy researcher. Tso is her reclaimed Chinese ancestral name which was lost in
translation when her paternal grand-father came to live in New Zealand as a teenager.
All artworks and photographs are by Bev Tso Hong unless otherwise stated.
